The actual translation of the French title is Toto's Jokes which I think fits this collection more since each page is a joke or a pun. The American publisher named the series of books after the television show based on the comics. Toto is a smart alek of a kid who is always joking (usually intentionally) around school or home.
The subtitle is "Back to Crass" and I'm not sure kids will get that, but they will likely enjoy some of Toto's jokes. The first in the book is an old one, but funny (IF you know Toto is joking) and it sets the tone for the collection: Toto's class is asked by their teacher for their name and what their dad's do. Several in the class offer answers. When she gets to Toto he says his dad is dead. When the embarrassed teacher asks what he did before he died, Toto says, "Well, he went Arrrgh!" His Dad is alive and well and often the brunt of Toto's pranks. He also has an antagonistic relationship with their elderly neighbor...the French version of Dennis the Menace. That's actually a good way to think of the whole series. (Of which this is book one)
SO, will kids probably like this. It may well give them ideas. They won't get all the jokes, but giggles will be spawned.
